Daddy is on vacation!
My handsome hubby is off this week! YIPPEE! We always love having him home with us and sometimes he surprises us with a spur of the moment outing or two during his days off. On Saturday he decided that he wanted to take the kids...and his thrill ride loving wife...to OAKS PARK. We had never been before and he had recently seen an ad in the newspaper advertising it's 102nd birthday. All ride tickets were only 32 cents and each ride only 1 ticket! We packed a picnic lunch and headed out around 10am. After arriving, we bought our ride tickets and started having some fun! Sarah my youngest daughter is a thrill seeker like myself. She wanted to ride all the "big scary rides" with mommy, so I happily obliged her! (If only she was a little taller we could have done the Screaming Eagle or the Looping Thunder roller coaster...oh well...next time.) We started with the Round-Up...one of my favorite fair rides. She loved it! My oldest daughter, Bethany, being more conservative and cautious, bless her heart, watched with daddy and brothers from the sidelines while Sarah and I hooped and hollered, enjoying our big thrill. Sarah also loved the Zoooom Coaster....her first roller coaster!
Jesse and Jared enjoyed riding the kiddy rides...the skyfighers, the jump cycles and the toon cars. At first we weren't so sure they were liking it as they looked so serious going around in circles and would hardly make any eye contact with us. But when it came time to help them off, they would start crying, "More, more, more!"
Bethany found a few rides that she enjoyed too, such as the Lewis and Clark Adventure and the Frog Hopper. We all took a spin on the train, floated above the clouds on the hot air balloon ride and enjoyed some yummy ice cream! We all decided that OAKS PARK was a-okay and thanked daddy for his grand family outing idea!

Ugh. Your talking about the rides made me woozy! I'd be the one to sit and watch the kids :) How fun!! Looks like you had some nice sun to go with you!
That looks like so much fun! We haven't ever been on the rides at Oaks Park. We'll have to go now!
Looks like so much fun! I'm jealous of your gorgeous weather! It's been rainy here (we are thankful for it of course though.)
Can't wait for our trip to California in a few weeks!
We love Oaks Park! We practically live there in the summer! IN the winter we go roller skating at the rink there. They even have a homeschool skate day. Now that you've discovered the Park you wills ee it can be addictive! LOL
