Go to work with Dad day!

Asa was off last TUES, the day before the 4th and what did he choose do? Sleep in a few hours maybe? NO! He got us all up at 6:00am and we piled in the van to visit his FEDEX station and show the kids what Daddy does each day when he goes to work! The girls are always asking him about his work day, what he does, what "the belt" is, and also who are all those people that you talk to mom about? Well...we saw "the belt", met a lot of dad's co-workers and saw the "behind the scenes" sort of stuff that happens in the wee morning hours before those FEDEX trucks parade out of the warehouse to deliver lots and lots of packages! ("The belt" is a conveyor belt that makes it's way throughout the warehouse and all the packages roll by on it. People sort through them, grabbing certain ones as they pass, to load their trucks. And boy do they have to move quickly and pay close attention!) After seeing all that goes on there, we have a real appreciation for what daddy does each day to provide for us all! From what I saw, I can understand how it can be quite stressful! All these boxes having to find themselves to the correct place in a timely fashion, so that trucks can get out on the road by such and such a time. And there really is a large digital clock ticking away the minutes, that hangs just over the workers' heads while they sort packages....just like in the movie CASTAWAY! Everyone is indeed in a hurry! What to expect...it is FEDEX for goodness sake! You know..."the world on time"..."when it absolutely positively has to be there overnight"...sort of stuff! We were in and out in about 20 minutes, so as not to get in the way, but it was interesting to see what goes on there and how Asa spends his mornings at FEDEX.

THANKS HONEY FOR ALL YOU DO...WORKING SO HARD TO "BRING HOME THE BACON!" WE LOVE YOU!

I love the sight of the FEDEX truck, especially when it pulls into my driveway!
