HURRAY...Grandpa is here!

Yesterday afternoon the kiddos and I picked up Asa's dad at the airport for a week long visit! The girls were especially excited to see him. As well as having a genuine love for their grandfather, they also remembered that he took them to TOYS R US when he visited this time last year to pick out their birthday gifts! LOL! Sarah's birthday is next week and Bethany's is in DEC. Tomorrow they will be allowed to wander the aisles of the giant toy store and choose their gift. What kid doesn't love that? Wonder what they will choose.

We enjoyed a fun-filled day today....starting out with a yummy french toast breakfast...followed by a trip to meet daddy at the pool for a swim. (My "pretty cute FEDEX courier" husband is trying to fit some exercise into his life and so he has bought himself a pass for a local pool located on his route. He goes there to swim laps on his lunch hour.) Daddy had fun playing with the kids in the water. And yes, even the littlest ones got in and enjoyed going down the kiddie slide in the not so deep end...with daddy to catch them of course. Grandpa and I looked on from the sidelines getting a few good laughs now and then and sometimes lending a hand.

After drying off and saying our goodbyes to daddy, it was off to the zoo to visit some of our favorite animals. We had packed a picnic lunch and a few snacks and so we took our time meandering throughout the different areas of our zoo. The girls always love to watch the elephants. Today we got to see them do a few tricks before being rewarded with their meal. Jesse and Jared really liked sitting in front of a giant aquarium window watching all the fish swim by. Perhaps it was hypnotic...who knows...but it kept their attention for quite some time.

That's a great way to get present for kids. My children always love it.
